Activate your Lifestyle with S.M.A.R.T goals

The Activate NT program has now been underway for a few weeks, and you can no doubt see and feel the results of your efforts through regular exercise; including the “2 & 5” principle into your daily food intake, you might be feeling the benefits of consuming less alcohol; and you may have added years to your life if you have quit smoking.

Good intentions to change health-related habits are just wishful thinking if you don’t have goals to keep you focused on the journey ahead. Some SMART goal setting will help you on your way again. Click read more below.

SMART goals are:
• Specific: I will lose 10kg during the Activate NT program 2009.
• Measurable: I will be “weighed in” at week 1 and again at week 10 of the program, so I know I have lost the 10kg and achieved my goal
• Achievable: I am willing to pay the price for change (I am willing to exercise each day and to give up my indulgences of cheese cake and coca cola drinks!)
• Realistic: 1 kg per week is realistic
• Time framed: I will lose the 10kg by week 10

And remember.................. “a journey of 1000 kilometres starts with a single step”

High blood pressure

Hi,

Modern physiology developed the concept of the vascular pressure wave (VPW). This wave is created by the heart during the systole and originates in the ascending aorta. Much faster than the stream of blood itself, it is then transported through the vessel walls to the peripheral arteries. There the pressure wave can be palpated as the peripheral pulse. As the wave is reflected at the peripheral veins it runs back in a centripetal fashion. Where the crests of the reflected and the original wave meet, the pressure inside the vessel is higher than the true pressure in the aorta.
